The primary policy of the Acoustic Circus project, is to promote new song-writing and
performing talent in a welcoming and lively environment . We do this largely by holding a gig
approximately once a month, which consists of six acoustic performers each playing 25
minutes.

We want everyone to enjoy their night and have the opportunity to play for a reasonably sized
audience. With this in mind, we ask that you inform friends, family, fans etc that you are
expected to play and consequently try to bring as many audience members as you possibly can
(ten or more guarantees a healthy turnout). This way each performer is assured of a good
crowd and the supportive atmosphere can only be better!

NB - If you are on Facebook or any other social networking site, please do not set up
events etc for Acoustic Circus gigs, we will set up official events, albums etc. Please
note the Acoustic Circus logo is (C) Acoustic Circus and Tim Longthorn. Please do
not use it or "Acoustic Circus" on any promotional material without obtaining
permission first.

-Please bear in mind that you may be asked to play early on in the evening so it would be ideal
if your audience members could arrive from the start of the gig.

Although we refer to the  "Bill",  it is not prioritised in the conventional way, i.e. playing
first, third or last does not indicate the importance of the performer. We have no favourites and
value everyone who plays for us as unique individuals. Therefore, if you are asked to play first
(or third, or last etc.) please do not pressure the organisers to change the running order unless
absolutely necessary.

Although we do have established performers often play at Acoustic Circus, the priority of the
gig has always been and will always be to give a platform to those who would otherwise not get
to perform and to build the confidence of these performers.

We will strive to give a place at Acoustic Circus to anyone who wants to play. However,
the gig is not 'Open Mic'. The bill is finalized and advertised at least 3 weeks before the gig.

The definition of "Acoustic" is recognised by the organisers to be vague, but it is generally
accepted to mean instruments which have their own resonance, and exclude electric guitars,
electric bass,  samples and synthesizers etc.
However,  because of obvious logistical problems, electric pianos will be allowed,  but we ask
that they be used with a ‘piano’ voice.

Acoustic Circus would not exist without the support of our loyal and enthusiastic audience. In
view of this, anyone performing while obviously drunk / stoned or otherwise derelict will not be
asked to play again. Besides, it will not do your music justice and you will be very ill and
embarrassed!

Any revenue  made by each Acoustic Circus is put into advertising, promoting and staging the
next gig, buying equipment and maintaining our setup. Acoustic Circus is a non-profit making
organisation.

Because we are voluntary run, Acoustic Circus is not a paying gig. We will help with legitimate
and reasonable expenses incurred, but please make us aware of this BEFORE you
confirm booking.

The Organiser will try to keep the door charge as low as possible, without reducing the
perceived value of the event. Unfortunately, we cannot provide a guest list.

We want to represent acoustic music in all its forms and welcome as many different styles and
genres as possible.
